Ideation Techniques
Ideation can either be performed in a group or alone but is especially effective with others to bounce ideas off of. It can also be condensed into a controlled, short time frame, or rather extended across multiple hours and sessions. In either case, the goal is to come up with as many ideas as possible, without worrying about being of the best quality. This all depends on your desired result and the number of ideas you aim to create.
For this exercise, I took POV, or point of view statements, I had previously made in relation to the applications Amtrak, Target, and Kindle, and embarked into this Ideation stage. It was helpful to use materials I had previously worked with, because I have done analysis and research into each’s user preferences and needs. I used two different techniques per statement, and began ideating.
